Darn That Facebook

They look soooooo good. Eye candy. You know what I mean. I'm referring to those delicious looking recipes that uninvitedly appear on our Facebook feeds. Many are loaded with cheese, sugar, heavy cream, etc. There are also many nutritious recipes also. However, the ones that quickly catch my eye are recipes such as 'Red Velvet Cheesecake'. Oh yea. Delicious.

I love to cook for family and friends. I love to cook foods that are rich and sweet. The problem is that it is vertually impossible for me to cook those types of dishes and not partake in their rich goodness, which can completely blow my diet and make my diabetes worse.

Therefore in order to keep my diet headed the right direction, I must find satisfaction in cooking dishes that are not going to be a diet buster for my. Perhaps it's time for me to put myself first in this aspect of my life.

Those #%}£¥ Brownies!

I was not prepared for brownies. They were just sitting there on the table with all the other desserts. They were made just the way I like them. Oh, dear. What to do? What to do? Just a small taste. Yep. That would be ok, I told myself. Just a small taste. I have just a small taste and that will be all.

Well, I had a small taste. Then another one and another one. That first small taste became several small, well, not so small, tastes. I'm sure my blood sugar soared. Sigh.

This was just another confirmation that I have no stopping power when it comes to sugar and chocolate. Just how many confirmations do I need? One small taste is at the same time too much and not enough.

The good news? I did not totally crater. I am still counting points and exercising, and my weight is still heading the right direction. Yea!

One Piece---Not Enough? Or Too Much?

It was just one piece. I'm not sure what kind of cake it was. It had white frosting. It looked delicious. The pieces were cut small, just over an inch square. I ate just one piece. That was all. No, I didn't get another one. Why? The only reason....we were getting ready to leave the restaurant and it wasn't convenient. That's it. If it hadn't been for that one and only reason, I would have eaten at least one more piece, maybe two.

So back to my question. Was eating one piece too much or not enough? For me, it was too much, because my sweet tooth never, never knows when to quit.

What about you? Are you satisfied after one piece of cake, fudge, brownie? Or is your stopping point when someone or something else stops you?

If you are like me and have no internal 'stopping power', then it is indeed best if one piece is too many and we have none at all!
